There are motor boats, and there are motor boats, and then there is HUMDRUM: quite simply one of the most exquisite boats of this type we have encountered. And she comes with impeccable DNA: her lines a gift from C. Raymond Hunt to Sir Max Aitken around the time Clare Lallow of Cowes were completing Aitken's radical, 'keel-less' Hunt-designed 58 ft ocean racing sloop DRUMBEAT. HUMDRUM's hull lines are almost identical to the ground-breaking Ray Hunt Bertram 31 MOPPIE design that so completely shook the world of offshore powerboat racing from 1960. HUMDRUM is firmly part of that historical moment in time, when Hunt demonstrated just how effective his "Deep-V" hull type was in efficiently powering through seas with great stability. Sir Max Aitken was the driving force in post-war British powerboating, and HUMDRUM is a beautiful reminder of these times, when HUMDRUM and the the Fairey Marine Huntress were the first 'Deep-V' boats in UK waters. HUMDRUM has always remained in Aitken family ownership and been dry-boated. She was restored and re-powered in the mid-1990s and has been little used since. What an exciting opportunity.
