Stephen Jones forged a young reputation as the designer of some of the 1970s and 1980s most extreme, successful and aesthetically pleasing-looking IOR-Rule racing yachts. In more recent years his traditionally inspired, modern underbody production designs for the Hunter Boats/ Cornish Crabbers 'Mystery 35' and the Rustler Yachts 'Rustler 33' really caught the eye of production yacht buyers with a more discerning eye for elegance. METEOR, which Jones designed for himself, goes one step beyond, employing modern wood construction techniques to come up with his unique take on a "Spirit of Tradition" racer/ cruiser. She's a Spirit of Tradition division winner at classic regattas and serves as a successful and very fleet of foot family cruiser. An 15 year insurance survey report from April 2021 is available.

Since being built at Grimsby, Lincolnshire by wood-epoxy specialists Farrow and Chambers, METEOR has been used for family cruising and weekend sailing on the south coast of England, including cross channel and the West Country. From 2009 she has competed at six Panerai British Classic Yacht Club regattas, coming 2nd in Class in 2010 and 2012 and 1st in 2013. Subsequently the Spirit of Tradition division has grown in strength and METEOR remains a potent performer.
