BROKER'S COMMENTS

Launched as MOEVA and massively built as a polar research and exploration vessel, GOLDEN PRINCESS is another example of a successful adaptation from workboat to cruising boat aesthetics. This handsome and capable little ship is economical to operate yet with an emphasis on indoor comfort. Moreover her expansive upper deck makes for alfresco dining and entertaining on quite a grand scale. Chartering successfully she is MCA coded and lying in France.

History

Originally MOVEA the yacht was built as a research and demonstration boat for Antarctica – and it took some years to build this massively solid yacht - finally leaving Les Chantiers Naval de Normandie in 1966. The person who had commissioned her had died in the meantime and in the event she never served for the research role originally intended.
The yacht stayed a while in Fécamp bay in Normandy and was then redesigned as a pleasure yacht in the 1970s. Didier Presles - a well known yacht designer completely transformed her for this new role and in considerable style. At this time she was called SHIKAR and in due course Mr Winter a German gentleman became her owner in the 80s and renamed her GOLDEN PRINCESS. He replaced the original 8 cylinder engines for the current MAN diesel 6 cylinder engines and much other work besides.

In the 90s GOLDEN PRINCESS was sold to a British architect Mr Pollock who like his predecessor Mr Winter kept her for a decade or so; selling her in 2001 to another British owner who berthed her in Monaco and keeping her in very good condition. The yacht was sold again in 2007 to a family who kept her for another 7 years spending considerable sums on refitting and upgrading until bought by her current owner in 2015. He has made her available for charter for which she is MCA Category 2 coded.
