BROKER'S COMMENTS

A classic powerboat indeed; elegant from a fine pedigree, including the successful Huntsman 28 and 31 - and Swordsmen themselves achieving fine performances on the international power boat racing circuit as thoroughbreds in their own right. The Swordsman came as either aft cabin or open cockpit versions and was also available in kit form or as a hull only. Beneficially, TIREUR, hull number 28 of just 55 Swordsman 33 ft hulls, has full Fairey Marine provenance, fitted out to the order of a retired Royal Navy Commander. As a Mk 2 Aft Cabin model with a raised aft deck her aft cabin gained standing head room and a head. In the hands of her second owner, she was laid up on the hard for two years before being discovered by current Fairey Owners’ Club President Maureen Wood and her husband Derek. Finding her to be fundamentally in good shape, though cosmetically neglected, they undertook a three-year restoration. They were rewarded when TIREUR carried off the FOC’s Wilkinson Sword Trophy for best Swordsman for two years running. Sympathetically enhanced and lovingly cared for by her two subsequent owners she remains in fine condition and portrays quite faithfully her original period demeanour – the hallmarks of elegant design, solid construction and legendary sea-keeping and handling.
